Famous places to see are the Fuggerei (the oldest welfare-housing area in the world), the town hall, Maximilianstraße, the cathedral and the Ulrich-basilica. The old part of the city provides a very special atmosphere due to numerous truly romantic corners, little canals, and lots of bridges... For many people Augsburg is the most northern town of Italy.
